And that’s the way it’s gonna be lil’ darlin’!
What an absolutely epic night last Friday was! We were lucky enough to welcome cult figure, and all-time Australian icon Daryl Braithwaite to O’Donoghues and watch him bring down the house with a trademark, high energy performance.
The man himself brought his a-game, and nailed all his classics from throughout the years, including, ‘One Summer’ and ‘As the days go by’. The dedicated punters were even blessed to hear a few Sherbet classics – most notably was his rendition of ‘Howzat!’ which brought out the best in the 600 strong crowd.
The night wouldn’t have been complete without Daryl giving the fans what they really wanted. The intro chimed, and ‘The Horses’ rung out, drowned out by the battle cries of attendees young and old. As the chorus rolled around, the festivities really kicked into overdrive. Shoulders were mounted, tables were danced on and ‘yeah, yeahs’ were sung at the top of their respective owners lungs. The big man himself reacted to the energy of the crowd and went through the whole song twice, but still the punters were wanting more.
The crowd erupted as he made his final bow. The fans cheered and applauded as he exited stage right.
What a night, and what a launch platform for our upcoming ticketed events. If you loved Daryl, or missed out on Daryl, don’t miss your chances to see Dragon at O’Donoghues in November!
Thanks to Daryl, and thanks to everyone that came and made it such a memorable night.
